It's snowing just a little bit here.
We've been basking the glow of 2008 for over twelve hours now, and you know, it doesn't feel much different from 2007. After Chieko received one last I.V. treatment for her stomach bug yesterday afternoon, we headed out for a snowy, windy drive to Niigata. We rolled in around 7 last night, just in time for dinner. Around midnight we walked in the snow down to the local shrine, rang the bell, said some prayers, drank a bit of sake, and then trudged our way back home. It was one of the more beautiful experiences (walking in the snow) that I've had in a while.
So far we've spent the day lounging around eating, sleeping, and pursuing other wonderfully relaxing activities. I think that will be the about the pace of they day. I did venture out and take a short drive, in hopes of capturing some of the snow covered beauty, but it's snowing too hard to get many good shots, and there was no place to pull over. Tomorrow, snowboarding. Fun. Time to go smoke some bacon. Enjoy your last 10 minutes of the year people back on the east coast. Happy New Year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! we went out for dinner early, with the old people, then to the movies. no sneaking into a second one this year. we came home and made cupcakes for grammy's birthday today. fun, fun..
