They are abundant here in Kanazawa, and include:
-spiders
-bats
-flooded rice paddies
-peeping frogs in flooded rice paddies
-sleeping with open windows
-the cherry blossoms have come and gone
-short sleeves at work
-driving with the windows down
-sun!
-optimism (closely tied to sun)

ah gee... i miss all those spring things in kanazawa....
lets see, in NY, our very own brand of cherry blossoms are still in full swing, lots of tulips, daffodils and the hyacinths are on their way out. blue skies for days. women have exchanged boots and heels for open toed sandals and flip flops.
sadly, no sign of rice paddies or frog peepers yet in NY.
i read your blog sheryl so i'm familiar with the NYC cherry blossoms...and your ramen expoits...i forgot to mention the most important sign of spring though, that the red sox are kicking butt once again!

we slept with the windows open last night. we spent the weekend cleaning up the back porch, putting in the screens ( i may have already told you this on the phone). i got a couple of new chairs for the deck and we sat out there in the late afternoon, yesterday, very peaceful. we have lots of noisy peepers (love 'em) at night and lots of early birds. gorgeous blue skies all week (so far) some rain last night.
you love spiders!!
