New and Improved?

Somehow in the midst of getting married, hopscotching around Japan, and hosting my family here in Kanazawa over the past week, I've found both the time and energy to whip together a new blog. It's basically the same as my old blog, but with a face lift. I've grown a bit tired of the format of the other one, and figured I'd mix things up a bit for my own satisfaction. We'll stick with this one for a while though. I'm running out of clever ways of using my last name in blog titles.

We've been doing our fair share of running around town dodging rain drops and pellets of hail. My family has gotten a good taste of how crazy weather can be here in Kanazawa, with rain one minute, hail/snow the next, and then sun after that. I wish we could've had at least a partial day without some form of precipitation to take in some of the outdoor sites around here, but it seems that wasn't meant to be.

Yesterday we went to Kanazawa's famed Kenrokuen garden, which was nice except for the thunder and lightning, and the small fact that most of the trees and plants have shed their foliage for the winter.

Tonight we're off to my local bar for dinner and a few drinks before my family heads home in the morning. Chieko and I are taking the train with them tomorrow down to Osaka international airport, a few hours away. We'll return tomorrow evening, and then all this will be over. It's been quite a week, to say the least. With work starting up again next week, and a slew of other things going on over the next few weekends, life doesn't seem poised to slow down much in the immediate future. No complaints here though (other than the traffic and lousy driving habits here in Kanazawa, of course).

And so concludes the first post of the new blog. I'll now cross my fingers and hope all the formatting issues I was having with the other one (which seemed to bother nobody but me) have magically disappeared. Oh by the way, happy Thanksgiving everyone. Almost forgot about that. Will have to try and scare up some turkey somewhere around here.
